  • Publication date 08/05/2009
  • Type Correspondence

Questions and indications which OPTA has received, seems to indicate that telephone service providers are not always aware of the maximum tariff that a number user charges for a specific information number. With this letter OPTA informs number users and telephone service providers about the maximum tariff obligation. Moreover OPTA helps these parties to comply with their maximum tariff obligation in full, to prevent any violations of this obligation.

The number holder must know the number user and is required to ensure that any numbers assigned to him are used in accordance with or pursuant to the provisions of this legislation. Consequently, if a number user fails to comply with the maximum tariff obligation, OPTA may also take action against the relevant number holder for the purposes of enforcement.

This letter has been send to the in the appendix noted companies and to all number holders.
